William Richard Reagan

March 25, 1940 — February 4, 2021

William Richard Reagan on Friday, February 4th, 2021 passed into glory at the age of 80.  He was surrounded by his wife and all three of his daughters.

Visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home prior to funeral services.

Funeral services will be 2 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Carabin and Robert Henderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery.

Richard Reagan was born in Groesbeck, Texas on March 25th, 1940.  He graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1958 where he was an outstanding athlete.   He met his future wife, Nancy Lee Henderson in Groesbeck and they were married on the July 25th, 1964.

He graduated from Sam Houston University.  After receiving his teaching certificate, he taught for the next 40 years.  He taught in Quitman, Waco and Groesbeck, Texas.  His final teaching position and the one he was at the longest was teaching math at Groesbeck High School with his wife Nancy.  He remained a fixture around the high school even after he retired.  It always tickled us to think of the current students at GHS who saw the man covered in paint walking the halls of their school and probably weren’t aware that he possessed a Master’s degree.  He also probably was the one who taught their parents.

In addition to teaching math, Richard also coached football and basketball.  As Coach Reagan, he shaped the lives of many young men in Groesbeck and had the opportunity to help coach the Groesbeck Goats football team to a State Championship in 1991.  He also had the opportunity to lead the Groesbeck men’s basketball team to the Texas State championship game in 1992.  The list of his academic and coaching achievements is such a long and distinct list that there is very little blank space left on his GHS letterman jacket.

Richard Reagan was a committed Christian and served his church for the past 50 years.  He endeavored to live his life in a way that glorified his God and pointed others to Jesus.  He was not a man of pride except when it came to rejoicing in seeing all of his daughters, their husbands and his grandchildren and their spouses walking with Jesus.  When he spoke of that his eyes would sparkle.  That is his legacy, and it is a proud heritage.

Richard was preceded in death by his Parents William Franklin and Emma Janice Mullins Reagan.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Henderson Reagan.  His oldest daughter and son-in-law Mary and Jim Franks of Colorado Springs, CO; his middle daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Greg Day of Spring, TX and his youngest daughter Molly Reagan of Colorado Springs, CO.  His grand children are Katherine and Mike Ryckman of Ewa Beach, HI; Annie and Matthew Briseño of San Antonio, TX; William Franks of Colorado Springs, CO; Jamie Franks of Colorado Springs, CO; and Emma and Eddy Morales of Houston, TX.

We rejoice that we will be reunited with our father and husband in a little while.  Our loss is Richard’s gain.  What we perceive dimly on this side of glory, Richard is now experiencing fully as he is now face to face with Jesus.  Halleluiah! Praise God!
