Ann Walston, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at Providence Ascension in Waco, Texas.
She was born on May 8, 1930, in Oletha, Texas, to Louie J. Sadler and Berta Sadler. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Clarence Walston.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven Walston and his wife, Joy Swallow, and Byron Walston and his wife, Lisa Walston. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brandon Walston, Katie Walston, Rachel Walston, Cody Walston, and Rebecca Gessner, as well as three great-grandchildren.
Ann graduated from Sam Houston State University and dedicated 30 years of her life to teaching elementary school. She touched many young lives through her patience, kindness, and devotion to education.
For the last 35 years of her life, Ann made her home at Lake Limestone in Texas, where she enjoyed the beauty of the area and the comfort of the community. She loved to cook, garden, and spend time with those she loved.
She was a devoted and active member of First Methodist Church in Groesbeck, Texas, where she sang in the choir and faithfully participated in church life. Ann also took deep pride in her heritage and community, helping secure State of Texas Historical Recognition for the site of the Oletha School and for Ferguson Cemetery in Oletha.
Ann will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, dedication to family, and lasting service to her community.
A funeral service will be held July 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ferguson Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ann may be made to Ferguson Cemetery (823 LCR 741, Thornton, TX 76687) or to First Methodist Church of Groesbeck, TX.
